A case has emerged in Chhattisgarh in which cannabis worth nearly Rs 3.5 crore was seized during action against cannabis smuggling. The smugglers were allegedly transporting the cannabis hidden in the trunk of a car. During the police action, the accused dumped sacks filled with cannabis near a hill and fled.
According to information, the cannabis was being transported concealed in the car used for smuggling. As soon as the smugglers got wind of the action, they threw the sacks near the hill and escaped from the spot. During the search, a large quantity of cannabis was found in the sacks, with its estimated value stated to be around Rs 3.5 crore.
After the incident, the cannabis was seized. Since the smugglers fled, their identification and search remain a major challenge for the police. The recovery of such a large quantity of narcotics has also raised questions about the smuggling network.
As per the information currently available, the value of the cannabis has been assessed at around Rs 3.5 crore. Detailed information on the arrest of the accused and the role of others linked to the smuggling is still awaited.
