CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal has achieved another significant medical milestone. For the first time in Central India, the institute has successfully performed a Valve-in-Valve Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedure. This minimally invasive surgery was carried out on a 72-year-old male patient who had previously undergone an artificial aortic valve implant, which had deteriorated over time.
Using the TAVI technique, the team of expert doctors implanted a new valve inside the old, malfunctioning one without performing open-heart surgery. The catheter-based approach allowed the patient to recover more quickly. This procedure offers a life-saving option for high-risk cardiac patients who may not be eligible for conventional surgery.
AIIMS Bhopal Director Dr. Ajit Singh stated that this achievement is a testament to the institute’s technical excellence and the dedication of its expert doctors. The Cardiology Department successfully and safely conducted the procedure, and the patient is now stable and recovering well.
This major breakthrough has not only enhanced the reputation of AIIMS Bhopal but also brought advanced cardiac care to the patients of Central India. It marks a new benchmark in the region’s healthcare standards.
