CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The political confrontation between the Centre and the West Bengal government has intensified after a controversy surrounding President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed visit to the state. The Union government has reportedly sought an explanation from the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government regarding issues linked to the President’s scheduled programme in West Bengal.

According to official sources, concerns were raised over protocol arrangements and coordination related to the President’s visit. The Centre emphasized that constitutional authorities such as the President must receive full cooperation from state administrations to ensure smooth conduct of official engagements. The matter has now taken a political turn, with the opposition accusing the state government of disregarding established protocols.

The West Bengal government, however, has rejected allegations of any deliberate lapse. Officials from the TMC administration stated that arrangements for the President’s visit were made according to standard procedures and that any confusion may have resulted from miscommunication between agencies.

Political observers believe the issue reflects the continuing friction between the BJP-led central government and the Mamata Banerjee administration. The development has triggered debates over federal relations, administrative protocol, and the role of political rivalry in governance. The Centre’s request for a formal clarification indicates that the matter may see further discussion at the administrative or political level in the coming days.
