Athapaththu took seven wickets for only five runs and completed a superb hat-trick during the spell. Her figures are now the best bowling performance in Women’s Asia Cup history.
Seven wickets in 3.3 overs
Athapaththu conceded only five runs in her 3.3-over spell and sent seven Indonesian batters back to the pavilion. She completed her hat-trick by taking the last three wickets of the innings off consecutive deliveries. She also became Sri Lanka’s first bowler to take a hat-trick in women’s T20 international cricket.
Sri Lanka win by 75 runs
Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 124 for seven in 20 overs. The team did not start well and at one stage had lost six wickets for 62 runs. Nilakshika Silva then struck an important half-century to take the side to a respectable total.
Chasing the target, Indonesia’s batting completely collapsed against the Sri Lankan bowlers. The entire team was bowled out for just 49 in 18.3 overs. Sri Lanka won the match by 75 runs and registered their second consecutive victory in the tournament.

Athapaththu’s figures of seven for five are now among the best bowling performances in women’s T20 international cricket. They are also the best bowling figures so far in the Women’s Asia Cup. Her brilliant spell not only gave Sri Lanka a big win but also strengthened the team’s position in the tournament.
