CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Chennai: SPR India said on October 22 that its Navaratri Golu installation in Chennai’s Perambur had been recognised by the World Book of Records, United Kingdom, as the tallest Golu display. The announcement follows a festival held from October 11 to 20.

According to the organiser, the stepped installation measured 53.8 feet in height and 42 feet in width, with more than 3,750 traditional dolls. SPR India said over one lakh visitors attended the ten-day cultural programme.

The celebrations included devotional music, traditional rituals and cultural performances alongside the display. The company said the record was adjudicated for SPR Constructions and that a certificate presentation was planned.

The installation drew on Tamil Nadu’s Golu tradition of arranging dolls during Navaratri. SPR India described the programme as an effort to preserve that tradition and bring families together through cultural activities. The ten-day celebration has concluded.
