CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal   /  Raipur  :  The Chhattisgarh High Court has ordered an increase in compensation to Rs 18.99 lakh for a 13-year-old child who lost a leg in a road accident. Earlier, a lower court had awarded a lesser amount, but the High Court recognized the gravity of the injury and the life-long impact on the child.

The incident occurred when the minor was involved in a road mishap, resulting in a tragic amputation of the leg. The court noted that the accident caused not only physical trauma but also emotional and psychological stress for the child and the family.

In its judgment, the court emphasized the responsibility of authorities and insurance companies to ensure adequate compensation for victims of severe accidents. The enhanced compensation aims to cover medical expenses, future rehabilitation, and loss of quality of life.

The child’s legal representatives expressed relief and appreciation for the court’s decision, highlighting that this ruling reinforces the rights of accident victims, particularly minors.

Experts say that the verdict sets a precedent for fair compensation in cases involving grievous injuries to children, ensuring that victims receive adequate support to manage the long-term consequences of such accidents.

This landmark order from the Chhattisgarh High Court underscores the judiciary’s commitment to protecting vulnerable victims and delivering justice in road accident cases.
