CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: An important step has been taken towards increasing the number of judges in the Chhattisgarh High Court. The Supreme Court collegium has approved the recommendation of six new names for judges of the High Court. Of these, two names are from the judicial service, or the bench, and four are from the field of legal practice, or the bar.
After this approval by the collegium, the names concerned will be taken forward for the next stage of the appointment process. The two names chosen from the bench have been proposed on the basis of judicial service experience, while four advocates from the bar have been recommended for appointment as judges.
The appointment of new judges in the High Court is expected to help in the hearing of pending cases and the conduct of judicial work. The functioning of case hearings in a court is affected by the available number of judges. In this context, the recommendation of six new names is being considered important for the judicial system.
However, after the collegium’s approval, the formal appointment process is still to be completed. The final appointment will be made under the relevant constitutional process.
