CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will flag off new public passenger buses under the Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service from BHEL Dussehra Maidan at a state-level programme to be held in Bhopal. The main objective of the service is to provide people of the state with smooth, safe and reliable public transport facilities along with better connectivity.
Divisional Commissioner Karmveer Sharma and Collector Priyank Mishra on Thursday inspected and reviewed the preparations for the state-level launch programme of the Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service at BHEL Dussehra Maidan in the capital Bhopal. The officers toured the entire programme premises, reviewed security arrangements, the seating plan and civic facilities, and directed departmental officers concerned to ensure excellent execution of assigned responsibilities within the stipulated time.
During the site inspection, Divisional Commissioner Sharma and Collector Mishra issued necessary directions to ensure smooth arrangements for the stage, seating for distinguished guests and the general public, drinking water supply, mobile toilets, parking and traffic management. The officers directed that traffic movement on routes leading to and from BHEL Dussehra Maidan should remain smooth so that citizens and visitors do not face any inconvenience.
The Transport Department has completed large-scale preparations to make the operation of the new buses being launched under the Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service modern, safe and convenient. These buses will be driven by drivers trained in advanced technology. Special training is being provided to make drivers well acquainted with the advanced technology of CNG and electric buses, smooth operations and safety standards.
The state government has set an ambitious target to expand public transport widely over the next five years and increase the number of buses in the state to 15,000 by 2031. Under this, 2,500 to 3,000 new buses will be added to the fleet every year. To train drivers in safe driving, Institute of Driving Training and Research Centres (IDTR) are operational in Indore and Chhindwara. In addition, five Regional Driving Training Centres in Bhopal, Betul, Chhatarpur, Ujjain and Gwalior, and 22 new driver training centres at the district level will be established soon.
