CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Amid the technology rivalry between the United States and China, a major case linked to alleged Chinese espionage has come to light. In an investigation by US intelligence agencies, Alice Huang (Huang Le), a senior executive of Singapore-based data centre company Megaspeed, is suspected of working for a Chinese intelligence agency and passing confidential information to Beijing. The name of Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, one of the world’s leading technology companies, has also surfaced in the matter. According to the report, Alice Huang had close business contacts with him.
Intelligence had reached the Trump administration: According to the report, US President Donald Trump was informed of this intelligence about a year ago. It is stated that while monitoring Alice Huang’s activities, US agencies learned of her contacts with Jensen Huang. However, no major immediate action was taken by the Trump administration in the matter.
Nvidia chip business also under investigation: US officials suspect that Megaspeed may have helped evade export restrictions to send advanced Nvidia AI chips to China. The company’s activities have been under scrutiny since late 2024. Investigators found Nvidia equipment in its original packaging at a data centre in Malaysia, deepening suspicions. According to the report, the purchase of billions of dollars’ worth of AI equipment through the company’s network is also under investigation.
Nvidia responds to allegations: An Nvidia spokesperson said the contact between Jensen Huang and Alice Huang was part of normal business activity. According to the company, meeting customers and business executives is a routine part of the CEO’s work. Megaspeed, meanwhile, has said it is taking the allegations seriously and is cooperating with the US government in the investigation. The Chinese embassy has also rejected the allegations, calling them baseless.
Concern grows at the White House: The matter has raised fresh questions over US national security and export controls on advanced artificial intelligence technology. However, it is still not clear what information was allegedly passed to China or whether Jensen Huang was aware of the activity. Official confirmation is awaited on several important aspects linked to the investigation.
