CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant inaugurated 16 Special Exclusive Courts at the Rouse Avenue Court Complex in New Delhi, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country's criminal justice system and ensuring faster disposal of complex cases. Of the newly inaugurated courts, 13 are dedicated to cases under anti-terrorism, narcotics, and organised crime laws, including those related to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Addressing the gathering, Justice Surya Kant described Delhi as the "nation's laboratory for judicial innovation", emphasizing that meaningful access to justice requires not only the right to approach courts but also the timely disposal of complex cases by judges with specialised expertise. He said dedicated courts would help improve case management, ensure uninterrupted hearings, reduce delays, and strengthen public confidence in the justice delivery system. The inauguration was attended by Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, other judges, judicial officers, and senior dignitaries. The initiative is expected to enhance judicial efficiency, improve coordination among investigating agencies and prosecutors, and serve as a model for similar judicial reforms across the country, reinforcing the commitment to faster, fairer, and more effective administration of justice.
