CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has once again announced a protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, party workers from across the country will reach Delhi on October 10 and stage a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Deepke said on the social media platform X that if Delhi Police stop the protesters on the way, the place where they are stopped will become their Jantar Mantar. He described the movement as peaceful and said it would follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi.
Earlier, on October 2, CJP had staged a protest at Shivaji Park in Mumbai demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. According to reports, Mumbai Police had not granted permission for the protest, yet a large number of people reached the site. After the protest, CJP gave a “Chalo Delhi” call and announced plans to reach Jantar Mantar on October 10.
CJP has been raising questions over transparency in the process of appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and issues related to the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list. The Election Commission, however, has said that the commission’s decisions, including those related to SIR, have been taken unanimously. In this situation, CJP’s allegations and the Election Commission’s position remain different.
Attention will now be on CJP’s proposed Delhi protest on October 10. The further situation regarding protest permission, security arrangements and police action will depend on the decisions of the administration.
