CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A controversy has intensified over alleged attacks on churches and institutions linked to the Christian community in West Bengal. Some reports and organisations have claimed that 22 incidents targeting churches have taken place in the state over the past two months. However, this figure could not be independently verified through credible official sources.

According to the claims, some incidents involved vandalism on church premises, disruption of prayer meetings and alleged misconduct with religious leaders. In some cases, claims have also emerged that crowds allegedly used objectionable language against pastors. Christian organisations have demanded that the administration conduct an impartial investigation and ensure the security of places of worship.

At the same time, the allegations in any incident can be confirmed only after investigation and official action. In recent days, several controversies linked to religious issues have surfaced in West Bengal, including police action and political statements. In such cases, rather than drawing broad conclusions against any community or individual, it is necessary to clarify the situation on the basis of an independent investigation into each incident and official records.
