CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, referring to the SOP issued by the General Administration Department regarding Holika Dahan, stated that on the occasion of Holi, cow-dung-based Holika Dahan will be promoted in the district with the aim of environmental protection and social harmony.
As per the instructions, public participation and social involvement should ensure maximum use of cow-dung logs (upale) instead of wood during Holika Dahan. The campaign also emphasizes playing Holi with natural and herbal colors, conserving water, avoiding colors on animals, and implementing the Clean and Safe Holi initiative effectively.
Key Directives by the Administration:
All public Holika Dahan events in the district must be registered free of charge. Registration facilities should be ensured at the district headquarters, all tehsil offices, urban bodies, and panchayat levels.
Wide publicity should be conducted to encourage the use of cow-dung logs instead of wood among the public.
Urban local bodies and panchayat institutions should actively participate in the campaign.
On Holika Dahan day, officials and field staff must conduct on-site inspections to ensure maximum events use cow-dung logs.
Verification of fully cow-dung-based Holika Dahan events must be completed, and reports submitted to the Collector’s office within 2–3 days. These reports will be compiled at the district level and sent to the state government.
Proposals for district-level recognition should be prepared for eligible organizations. Effective implementation of the Clean and Safe Holi campaign must be ensured.
State government should prioritize support or incentives for such initiatives in the future.
The Collector has instructed officials to establish necessary coordination and ensure all arrangements for the successful implementation of the campaign. Citizens are urged to adopt cow-dung-based Holika Dahan with an environmental consciousness to celebrate a clean, safe, and healthy Holi.
