CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A two-day national conference on “Sustainable Lifestyle and Climate-Resilient Design and Planning” was inaugurated at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal. Manmohan Vaidya, a member of the All India Executive Board of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was the chief guest at the opening session. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the importance of spirituality in sustainable living. Gopal Arya, National Coordinator of Environmental Conservation Activities, highlighted the conference’s relevance and presented an overview of various concepts related to climate-resilient design and planning, particularly the “HARIT” initiative (Holistic Action for Rejuvenating Indigenous Traditions). He also discussed the AEL approach (Attitude, Empathy, and Lifestyle) for sustainable living.

The conference, organized in collaboration with the Environmental Conservation Activity Institution and the three national SPAs (Schools of Planning and Architecture), featured the presence of Board of Governors chairpersons from each SPA, including H.D. Charan, Prof. Habib Khan, and Architect Amogh Kumar Gupta.

Prof. H.D. Charan, Chair of SPA Bhopal’s Board of Governors, welcomed the dignitaries and participants, while SPA Bhopal Director Kailasa Rao extended a vote of thanks. On the first day, the conference focused on three thematic areas: 1) Climate-Resilient Design and Planning, 2) Traditional Knowledge and Sustainability, and 3) Environmental Psychology and Sustainable Development. Discussions covered various topics such as biogas, sustainable development of tribal communities, sustainable living, water sustainability, regenerative design, traditional knowledge, environmental psychology, and waste management.
