CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: CM Fadnavis and Minister Vaishnaw Highlight Unprecedented Railway Development in Maharashtra During Mumbai Dialogue
During a special dialogue event held in Mumbai on the theme “Better Infrastructure, Better Technology, Better Trains”, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shed light on the remarkable progress being made in Maharashtra’s railway sector.
Minister Vaishnaw informed that work is rapidly progressing on 300 km of new railway lines at a cost of ₹17,000 crore, which will significantly enhance both convenience and speed in the suburban network. Additionally, the cutting-edge ‘Kavach 5.0’ technology will be implemented to ensure safety and punctuality in the suburban segment. He also announced the introduction of 238 newly designed AC train rakes specially crafted for Mumbai, which will be launched soon.
CM Fadnavis announced the upcoming launch of the ‘Mumbai One Card’, a unified travel card that will allow passengers to use local trains, metro, monorail, and buses with a single payment system.
Moreover, a ₹4,819 crore project to double the Gondia-Ballarpur line is set to improve connectivity between Vidarbha, Marathwada, and neighboring states.
Indian Railways has pledged a historic investment of ₹1.73 lakh crore in Maharashtra. Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, 132 railway stations across the state are undergoing modernization.
CM Fadnavis also emphasized the importance of PM Modi’s proposed WAVES Summit and the launch of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train in promoting tourism and development.
