CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government will organise several programmes from June 23 to July 6 to mark the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee. In this connection, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a discussion via video conference from the Chief Minister’s residence with mayors of urban local bodies and municipal council chairpersons and issued directions.
He said Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee gave the highest priority to the unity and integrity of the nation. “His life was dedicated to national integration,” he said.
It is noteworthy that Dr Mukherjee died on June 23, 1953, which is seen as his supreme sacrifice in the national interest. He had launched an agitation against the special arrangement in Jammu and Kashmir. His sacrifice is regarded as a symbol of national consciousness. He was born on July 6, 1901. A special fortnight will be observed across the state from June 23 to July 6 in memory of Dr Mukherjee, considered a founding figure of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Chief Minister said tribute programmes and thought seminars should be organised during the fortnight. He said Dr Mukherjee was an educationist, thinker, parliamentarian and visionary statesman. His birth anniversary is an opportunity to inspire the younger generation towards service to the nation.
Dr Yadav said the fortnight should conclude with the wide dissemination of Dr Mukherjee’s ideas. He said the main objective of the observance should be to take this message to every section of society.
