CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a detailed discussion with Susumu Kataoka, Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and his delegation in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The meeting focused on the investment opportunities and various aspects of collaboration for Japanese companies in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yadav highlighted that JETRO currently operates five offices in India—in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad—but has no office in Madhya Pradesh. He proposed that JETRO establish an office in the state to enhance communication and cooperation between Japanese companies and the state government.
CM Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is an ideal destination for Japanese investors due to its strategic location, robust infrastructure, and investor-friendly environment. He also noted that the state falls under a low seismic zone, ensuring investment security and stability.
He further mentioned that the Madhya Pradesh government is introducing special policies for key sectors such as semiconductors, AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics), Extended Reality (XR), and Global Captive Centers (GCC), offering significant opportunities for Japanese companies. He highlighted that major IT firms like TCS, Infosys, and LTI Mindtree are already operating in the state.
CM Yadav also pointed out the favorable environment for automobile and auto component manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh. He stated that if a leading passenger car manufacturer invests in the state, the automobile sector will be further strengthened and sought JETRO’s cooperation in this regard.
He proposed that JETRO and the Madhya Pradesh government jointly organize investment promotion programs and seminars to familiarize Japanese companies with the state’s investment policies and industrial opportunities. Additionally, he urged JETRO to encourage over 1,400 Japanese companies operating in India to consider investing in Madhya Pradesh.
JETRO Chairman Susumu Kataoka acknowledged that the upcoming Global Investors Summit would be a key platform for Japanese companies to explore investment opportunities and forge new partnerships in Madhya Pradesh. He assured that JETRO would invite more Japanese companies to participate in the event and work closely with the Madhya Pradesh government to enhance investment cooperation.
He further stated that JETRO could assist in sectors such as IT, fintech, medical devices, electronics, auto components, energy, and mining. The state government is committed to offering dedicated industrial parks, industrial housing, customized financial assistance packages, and pre-approved clearances for Japanese industries. JETRO can help design specific financial support packages tailored to the needs of Japanese enterprises.
Chief Minister Yadav invited the JETRO delegation to the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal on February 24-25, 2025 and encouraged them to participate alongside Japanese companies to evaluate investment opportunities in the state.
Additionally, he invited the delegation to visit Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to experience the cultural and historical richness of Madhya Pradesh. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade and investment cooperation, with JETRO assuring continuous dialogue and support in realizing investment opportunities in the state.
