CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Indore: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his recent political tours, claiming that the Congress has suffered losses in places where Gandhi has campaigned.
Speaking to reporters in Raipur on September 20 before leaving for a two-day visit to Odisha, Sai referred to Gandhi’s previous political tours and said their impact had not benefited the Congress. He also referred to Gandhi’s upcoming political activities in Madhya Pradesh and said a similar effect could be seen there.
Sai also referred to the recent Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election results while commenting on the Congress and its student wing. Reports said ABVP-backed candidates won three of the four central posts, while NSUI did not secure any of the four posts. Sai cited the result while discussing the political preferences of young voters.
The remarks come amid increased political activity involving Rahul Gandhi, including his September 19 programme, ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’, in Indore. Gandhi addressed students and raised issues related to education, youth participation and governance during the event.
Sai’s comments are part of the ongoing political exchange between the BJP and Congress over recent student and political developments. His assessment of the impact of Gandhi’s tours is a political claim and does not by itself establish a causal relationship between the visits and electoral outcomes.
