CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: CM Yadav and Minister Chauhan Launch ‘Naksha’ Using Drone
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the pilot project for urban land survey (Naksha) has been launched at the national level from Raisen. This government initiative aims to empower citizens, simplify urban land ownership, enhance urban planning, and reduce land disputes. CM Yadav was addressing the national event for the Naksha urban land survey in Raisen.
CM Yadav and Union Minister for Agriculture & Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, inaugurated the city survey program by flying a drone.
Ensuring Transparency in Land Ownership
CM Yadav emphasized that land is the most valuable asset, and accurate and transparent records are crucial for security and financial stability. Through the Naksha program, urban land records will be surveyed and modernized using drones, ensuring efficiency and transparency in land ownership.
He also highlighted how, under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, India’s global stature has increased. The government is actively working on irrigation projects, such as the Ken-Betwa Link Project, ensuring farmers receive adequate water supply, increasing productivity, and boosting farmers’ incomes.
Empowering Industries & Farmers
CM Yadav announced several government initiatives to promote industries, youth employment, and dairy farming. He stated that dairy farmers with more than ten cows will receive government subsidies, and women will be empowered through self-help groups. The state’s irrigated land area has grown from 7 lakh hectares in 2003 to over 48 lakh hectares today, with a goal to reach 1 lakh hectares through major river-linking and irrigation projects.
A National-Level Initiative: Minister Chauhan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan emphasized that Naksha is not just a project for Raisen or Madhya Pradesh but a nationwide initiative. The program has been launched across 26 states and 3 union territories, covering 152 urban local bodies.
He highlighted that land records have historically lacked transparency, leading to disputes, encroachments, and delayed development projects. The Naksha initiative, using drone technology, will provide structured land records to property owners, revolutionizing land ownership transparency under PM Modi’s leadership.
Watershed Program Launched to Combat Water Scarcity
Minister Chauhan also launched the Watershed Development Program, addressing the declining groundwater levels. The initiative includes check dams, stop dams, and water conservation structures, with a ₹8,000 crore budget. Well-performing Panchayats will be rewarded under this program.
Women’s Empowerment & Rural Development
Minister Chauhan reiterated the government’s commitment to uplifting women through self-help groups, aiming to make “Ladli Behna” beneficiaries financially independent. He also mentioned that 11 lakh houses are being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, ensuring housing benefits reach all eligible citizens.
Urban Development & Land Ownership Clarity
Union Minister Chandrashekhar Pemmasani (MoS for Rural Development & Communications) highlighted the importance of clarity in land ownership, stating that land disputes have hindered development, business growth, and infrastructure projects. The Naksha program, powered by modern technology, will ensure safe and transparent land ownership records for every citizen.
Naksha SOP & Watershed Program Launched
During the event, CM Yadav, Minister Chauhan, and Minister Pemmasani released the Naksha Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) booklet and flyer, alongside launching promotional videos for the Naksha and Watershed programs.
Additionally, the Watershed Awareness Campaign was inaugurated, covering 36 districts, 1,268 villages, and 73 blocks across Madhya Pradesh to educate citizens on soil and water conservation.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including MP Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel, MLA Surendra Patwa, District Panchayat President Yashwant Meena, former minister Rampal Singh, and a large number of citizens.
