CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Lal Bahadur Shastri in Lucknow on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Yogi Adityanath remembered Shastri as a leader known for simplicity, humility and dignity. He paid his respects at Shastri’s statue and recalled his contribution to the nation.

The Chief Minister highlighted Shastri’s famous call of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, saying that it strengthened public respect for farmers who contribute to the country’s food security and soldiers protecting the nation’s borders.

Yogi said the ideals associated with the slogan continue to hold significance in India’s development journey. He also linked Shastri’s emphasis on agriculture and national security with the country’s progress towards food self-sufficiency.

The Chief Minister paid homage to Shastri’s memory and recalled his contribution to public life and nation-building.

Lal Bahadur Shastri served as India’s second Prime Minister from 1964 to 1966. His birth anniversary is observed on October 2, alongside Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
