CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary in Lucknow by garlanding his statue. The Chief Minister remembered Gandhi’s contribution to India’s freedom movement and his emphasis on democratic and peaceful methods.
Yogi Adityanath said Gandhi provided democratic and peaceful leadership to the freedom struggle and helped transform it into a mass movement. He said Gandhi’s contribution played an important role in the country’s journey towards independence.
The Chief Minister expressed reverence for Gandhi’s memory and paid his respects on the occasion. Gandhi’s birth anniversary is observed on October 2 every year as Gandhi Jayanti and also marks the International Day of Non-Violence.
The tribute ceremony in Lucknow was attended by government representatives and other dignitaries. The occasion saw leaders and citizens remembering Gandhi’s principles of peace, non-violence and public participation.
Yogi Adityanath’s remarks focused on Gandhi’s role in mobilising people through peaceful means during the freedom movement. The Chief Minister also called for remembering Gandhi’s ideals and contribution to the nation.
