CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal, HackerRank Campus Crew, in collaboration with the Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell) of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhopal (IIIT Bhopal), organised a speaker programme titled “Tippani 2.0” at the Civil Auditorium of MANIT Bhopal.
IIIT Bhopal Director Professor Ashutosh Kumar Singh told students that such sessions, involving young coding talents such as Rohit Negi and Aditya Tandon, will continue to be organised in the future to help students sharpen their skills and become industry-ready. Singh said today’s youth are inspired by their youth icons and want to listen to them. In today’s competitive IT world, he said, it is essential for young people to receive the right guidance. As the director of IIIT Bhopal, an institute of national importance, he said it is his important responsibility to ensure that students selected through national-level examinations do not get lost in the crowd, but make their presence felt nationally through their talent and bring pride to their institution. He said he would make every possible effort for the all-round development of students. Today’s session, he added, was part of that effort, and expressed hope that students would develop their coding skills and other abilities from the experiences of Rohit Negi and Aditya Tandon.
Anchors Alakh Mishra and Riya Dwivedi conducted the proceedings and formally opened the programme. Soon after, the chief guests, Rohit Negi, founder of Coder Army, and Aditya Tandon, co-founder of Coder Army, were welcomed with loud applause, and Deep Joshi honoured them with bouquets. Deep Joshi also addressed the students, shared important points, and stressed continuous learning and practical skills to remain industry-ready.
The speakers began the interaction with light humour and shared the story of their struggle and success – how they started learning coding, how they became friends, and how they eventually founded Coder Army together. They then opened the floor to students’ questions and answered queries related to the current computer science field on the basis of their real-life experiences.
Some key points shared with the students included Aditya Tandon saying, “If a technology scares you about the future, learn it. It seems scary because it is unknown.” Rohit Negi said, “To become the best, it is not necessary to be the most intelligent.” He also said, “It is never only about the code. It is about marketing, presentation and the user. It has always been about the user.” Rohit Negi added, “Take that risk. That is the element that separates the best people in the world from the rest.”
The speakers discussed how a project actually moves from development to the market, what mindset is needed to advance in the industry, what makes a candidate employable, and what truly matters in today’s technology landscape. Drawing on their experience in both startups and large product companies, they made students aware of the realities of both.
Rohit Negi also highlighted the importance of data structures and algorithms (DSA) and cleared several misconceptions related to it, clearly telling students what they should focus on and what they should avoid. Aditya Tandon explained how, in today’s era, which is being rapidly influenced by artificial intelligence (AI), it is necessary to be both a generalist and a specialist.
Students who asked the best questions were invited to the stage and presented gifts by the chief guests, Rohit Negi and Aditya Tandon. Soon after, winners of the Best Coder Contest were also felicitated by T&P Cell faculty in-charge Deep Joshi and TPO Ajay Shrivastava in the presence of the chief guests.
The closing remarks and vote of thanks were delivered through a brief address by Training and Placement Officer Ajay Shrivastava, who spoke about the scale and quality of the event and informed students about the continuous efforts of the T&P Cell, while promising more such events in the future. He thanked the guests for their time and knowledge.
Concluding the programme, Ajay Shrivastava said, “We often discuss technology, education and industry, but today we got an opportunity to discuss a subject that is often overlooked – what happens after getting a job and how you can move ahead in these circumstances.” He said every student was impressed by the frankness with which Coder Army’s Rohit Negi and Aditya Tandon answered their questions, and that was why students sat comfortably for four hours to listen to them and get answers to their questions. With these closing thoughts, the programme concluded successfully.
