CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Bilaspur :In a rare move, Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agarwal visited Takhatpur town on a Saturday, despite it being a holiday, to inspect the dilapidated condition of the roads and other civic issues.
The visit follows consistent local media reports and public outcry regarding the worsening condition of roads in Takhatpur. Accompanied by officials from the National Highways Authority and local administration, the Collector directed immediate repair of major roads.
During the inspection, the Collector instructed the completion of the bypass road construction near Mondhe Marg and emphasized timely action. He also interacted with Municipal Chairperson Ravinder Kaur Makkar and PCC Secretary Atamjit Singh Makkar, who informed him of various civic challenges.
A key concern raised was the delay in the auction of shops at the old mandi complex due to pending files in the Collector’s office. Agarwal directed the Chief Municipal Officer to bring the file to his office for resolution. He also ordered the removal of unauthorized construction near a public tap at Panchraiha, close to the new bus stand.
The Collector assured the public that a plan is being formulated to improve civic systems. “Together, we can create a better-managed town,” he said.
Other demands included organized relocation of street vendors near Mandi Chowk, construction of a passenger shelter and toilets near Mondhe Marg, and clearing encroachments near the new bus stand.
The visit has sparked hope among locals for quick administrative action to restore basic infrastructure and services.
