CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Collector Priyank Mishra has directed that repair, maintenance and necessary improvement works on key roads in Bhopal city be completed on priority in view of the upcoming Army Day Parade and Global Investors Summit. He said all departments concerned should work in coordination to make traffic smooth and safe, and ensure that improvement works at accident-prone locations are completed within the stipulated time limit.
Collector Mishra was chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Collectorate conference hall on Thursday. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Basant Kumar Kaul, along with officials of the departments concerned, attended the meeting. Mishra directed officials of construction departments to improve the condition of city roads and also ensure early completion of ongoing construction works on national highways around Bhopal. He said that, keeping the upcoming events in view, necessary works should be taken up on priority to ensure smooth movement on major routes.
The meeting reviewed improvement works being carried out to prevent accidents at identified black spots in the district. The Collector directed that proposed works in Govindpura, Training Center and ISBT areas be started immediately, and that other approved left-turn construction works be completed within the prescribed timeframe. Collector Mishra instructed the District Highway Safety Task Force to remove encroachments within the limits of national highways. He also asked officials to ensure priority construction of stop lines and zebra crossings at major intersections, as well as speed breakers in accordance with prescribed standards. The Collector directed the officials concerned to regularly monitor road safety-related works. He said timelines must be observed in road repair and traffic improvement works so that citizens can have safe and orderly transport facilities.
