Acting against drug trafficking in Delhi, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Dwarka district police has arrested a 22-year-old college student from Haryana. Police recovered 101 grams of heroin and two mobile phones from his possession. The recovered heroin is said to be worth an estimated Rs 25 to 30 lakh in the international illegal market. The investigation has revealed links to a possible drug supply network spread across Delhi-NCR.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Rohit. He is a resident of Uncha Majra village in Gurugram district of Haryana and is a final-year BCom student. Police had received information that some people were taking narcotic substances from Delhi and supplying them in areas around the National Capital Region. After this, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team carried out surveillance and cordoned off the area near Harsukh Apartment in Dwarka Sector-1 on October 24. The accused was caught during this operation.
During questioning, Rohit allegedly said he had come to Delhi from Haryana to collect a consignment of heroin. According to his statement, he received the consignment from a foreign national in the Janakpuri area. Police are now investigating the role of this foreign national and a person named Jayvinder. However, independent confirmation of these alleged links remains a matter of investigation. In this case, an FIR was registered at Dwarka South police station on October 24 under Section 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). The accused was taken into two days’ police custody and questioned.
Police are working to identify the source of the recovered narcotic substance, its possible supply route and other people linked to the network. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from related locations. According to police, available records have not revealed any previous criminal history of the accused. The investigation in the case is continuing.
