CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat has said that in Madhya Pradesh, under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s leadership and in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve, a mass movement is being run for water conservation and environmental improvement. He said the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaigns are being carried out in every village and town with the cooperation of all sections of society and are yielding good results. He directed officials to ensure maximum public participation in these campaigns and to complete all necessary repairs and protective works on departmental water structures before the monsoon. He said any kind of negligence in this work would be inexcusable.

Silawat gave these instructions on Wednesday while reviewing ongoing departmental works and projects at Mantralaya, Vallabh Bhavan. He directed officers to complete all pre-monsoon works. Additional Chief Secretary Rajesh Rajora, Chief Engineer Vinod Devda and other senior departmental officials were present.

The minister reviewed, basin-wise, the progress of irrigation projects under construction with the Chief Engineers concerned and directed that all required works be completed within the next 15 days in view of the monsoon season. Under the Chambal-Betwa basin, Bhopal, the Parvati, Suthalia, Tem Kanyakhedi and Gwalatoria projects were reviewed. Under the Dhasan-Ken basin, the Aapchand, Majhgany, Satdharu, Pawai and Kathan projects were reviewed. Under Bina PMU, Sagar, the Banda, Hanota, Pancham Nagar, Kadan, Sajli, Kaith, Judi and Jera projects were reviewed. Under Betwa MOU, Bhopal, the Kotha Barrage and Bina projects were reviewed. Under the Narmada-Tapti basin, Indore, the Talwada, Pangri and Karam projects were reviewed. Under the Benganga basin, Seoni, the Chhindwara Irrigation Complex, Pench Micro Irrigation, Sher Irrigation Complex, Mandwa Hoj Irrigation, Upper Budner, Chhitabujri, Hiran, Bagraji Canal and Murki Pipe Canal projects were reviewed. Under the Ganga basin, Rewa, the Tyonthar Bahav, Tyonthar Micro, Ramnagar Micro, Nai Garhi Micro, Rihand Micro, Bhanni, Bahuti, Godh, Sitapur, Hanumana, Dori Sagar and Semaria Micro projects were reviewed. Under the Yamuna basin, Gwalior, the Kanera Micro, Chambal Micro, Munjhari, Chentikhedi and Sarkula projects were reviewed.

Keeping Singhasth 2028 in view, Silawat also reviewed various works being undertaken in Ujjain, including the Kanh Diversion Project, Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi ghat construction, Chitavad, Samakota, Dungaria, Baniharvakhedi, Ma Rewa Udvahan Project, Haat Piplya Project, Kayampur-Sitamau Malhargarh, Rampur Manasa, Kabulpur and Ahu projects, and issued necessary directions.

The minister directed that all departmental dams, canals, ponds and water structures be inspected before the rains and that repairs and other protective measures be ensured as required. He said that if there is any obstruction in catchment areas, it should be removed immediately. Necessary repairs of dam gates should be carried out, along with oiling and greasing, and the gates must be operated once as a trial. Flood control rooms should be established at various levels and remain functional round the clock. Monitoring committees should be activated and inspection teams should be formed at the offices of Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers to continuously monitor water structures and report to senior levels.

Silawat also directed that water levels in major water structures be monitored regularly and that prior information on rising water levels and the opening of gates be continuously given to the police administration, all concerned stakeholders and the general public. Villages and areas affected by floods during the past three years should be identified and all safety arrangements should be made there. He said major water structures must have divers, boats, life jackets, ropes and all other safety equipment in place. He also directed that meetings be held before the monsoon in all basins and districts with all concerned officers and that continuous coordination be maintained with them.
