CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Congress leader Nana Patole has announced that the party is gearing up to launch a Bharat Jodo Yatra-like movement, aimed at advocating for the return to ballot paper voting in elections. Speaking to the media, the Maharashtra Congress Chief emphasized the need to restore public confidence in the electoral process, citing concerns over the transparency and reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Patole stated that the movement would mobilize citizens across the nation to demand fair and credible elections through the use of ballot papers. The Congress leader expressed apprehensions about EVMs being susceptible to manipulation, a claim frequently raised by opposition parties in the past.

The proposed movement is inspired by the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which fostered grassroots engagement and connected Congress leaders with citizens on pressing issues. According to sources, the Congress plans to involve various stakeholders, including civil society organizations, to amplify their demand for electoral reforms.

This announcement signals Congress’s intent to make electoral transparency a central issue in their campaign strategy, especially as the country gears up for the 2024 General Elections.
