CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: State Congress Election Commission In-Charge J.P. Dhanopia has submitted a complaint to the State Election Commission, demanding the immediate cancellation of the transfer of Tehsildar Amita Tomar in Vijaypur Assembly constituency, Sheopur district. In his complaint to the Election Commission, Dhanopia stated that with the by-elections underway in Vijaypur, Sheopur district, the Model Code of Conduct is in effect, and voting is scheduled for November 13, 2024. The Election Commission of India has declared the Model Code of Conduct in Sheopur district; however, it is concerning that the state’s BJP government is openly attempting to violate the code.
In this context, the Madhya Pradesh Revenue Department issued an order transferring Tehsildar Amita Tomar from Guna to Sheopur, instructing her to assume her duties immediately, despite the prohibition of transfers in the district during the Model Code of Conduct period.
Dhanopia’s complaint further states that Amita Tomar, listed as item 6 in the Revenue Department’s order, had previously served for an extended period in Karahal under the Vijaypur constituency, where she has direct contact with the public. Due to her influence, her role could potentially impact the election, providing a direct electoral advantage to State Forest Minister and BJP candidate Ramniwas Rawat. He alleges that Rawat orchestrated Tomar’s transfer from Guna to Sheopur to gain an electoral advantage. The complaint requests the immediate cancellation of this transfer to ensure a free and fair by-election in the Vijaypur Assembly constituency.
