CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A delegation of the Pradesh Congress met Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari and submitted a memorandum demanding the registration of a criminal case and legal action against Omprakash Sunarya, the Lokpal (Ombudsman) of Makhanlal Journalism University, for allegedly using derogatory and offensive remarks against Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.

Through the memorandum, Congress leaders informed Commissioner Chari that Omprakash Sunarya, who holds the Lokpal position at the prestigious Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism University, has been making inflammatory and objectionable comments on social media with political malice since his appointment.

The Congress leaders stated that Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and former Congress President, has been actively raising awareness about constitutional protection and advocating for a caste census. However, in response, Sunarya allegedly posted on Facebook, stating, “When division is needed, your caste will be asked; when elimination is needed, your religion will be asked—that is caste enumeration.”

Additionally, Sunarya allegedly shared a video with photos of Congress leaders, captioned with derogatory remarks such as “Congress is a sin for Sanatan,” and made defamatory statements about Rahul Gandhi. He also circulated images of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Digvijaya Singh, labeling them as traitors, and allegedly compared Rahul Gandhi to a terrorist while using offensive language.

The Congress leaders further mentioned that NSUI (National Students’ Union of India) representatives Tanay Sharma and Aman Pathan, along with their team, had earlier submitted a written complaint at the Ratibad Police Station, attaching relevant documents. However, despite receiving an acknowledgment, no action has been taken against Omprakash Sunarya so far. They alleged that Sunarya is spreading communal hatred in society and continuously defaming Congress leaders through offensive remarks.

The Congress delegation demanded the immediate registration of a criminal case and judicial action against Omprakash Sunarya.
