CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India ePress / ITDC News Bhopal: The Congress Party has urged the Election Commission to ensure fair and independent counting of votes for the Vijaypur and Budhni Assembly by-elections. Congress election in-charge J.P. Dhanopia raised concerns over alleged administrative interference and electoral irregularities by the ruling BJP in a complaint submitted to the Commission.
Dhanopia outlined 11 key demands, including the presence of Congress representatives during the opening of strong rooms, EVM verification, videography of the process, and ensuring transparency during vote counting. He emphasized that a recount should be conducted if discrepancies are found between VVPAT slips and EVM votes.
The Congress also demanded that the final EVM count should not be conducted until the counting of postal ballots is completed. Additionally, the party called for preventing any external interference and ensuring that anti-social elements are kept away from the counting process.
