On the occasion of Sant Ravidas Jayanti, Congress leaders gathered at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium, Madhya Pradesh Congress Headquarters, to pay tribute by garlanding and offering flowers to Sant Ravidas’ portrait.

Sant Ravidas’ Teachings & Legacy

📜 Mukesh Nayak, President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department, highlighted Sant Ravidas’ contributions, stating:

Sant Ravidas was a medieval Indian saint, poet, and spiritual leader, honored with the title “Sant Shiromani.”

He founded the Ravidasia sect, and some of his hymns are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism.

He strongly opposed caste discrimination and preached self-awareness and devotion to God.

His philosophy emphasized that true devotion to God comes with humility, and only those who abandon pride and arrogance can attain spiritual enlightenment.

📖 His spiritual teachings and hymns carried a message of love, selfless service, and societal harmony, which deeply influenced his followers.

📖 He was a skilled shoemaker, dedicated to his craft, emphasizing diligence, honesty, and discipline in work.

🔹 Nayak remarked that Sant Ravidas followed India’s ancient Buddhist traditions, advocating for rational thinking over blind faith.

🔹 His famous saying “Mann Changa to Kathoti Mein Ganga” (If the mind is pure, there is no need for ritual purification) reflects his progressive ideology against superstitions.

Sant Ravidas’ Universal Belief in One God

🔹 He preached that all names of God—Ram, Krishna, Karim, Raghav—refer to the same supreme being.

🔹 He emphasized that all religious scriptures, including the Vedas, Quran, and Puranas, glorify the same divine power.
