CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / : Chhattisgarh Congress has announced a statewide chakka jam (road blockade) on Monday to protest the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) actions, particularly the arrest of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s son, Chaitanya Baghel. The party alleges the central government is misusing investigative agencies to target opposition leaders.
Congress has informed that the protest will take place across all 33 districts of the state from 12 PM to 2 PM, blocking roads at major intersections and business hubs. In Raipur, the demonstration will be held on the National Highway in front of Magneto Mall, and a similar protest will occur in Dharsiva area as well.
Top Congress leaders, including State President Deepak Baij, Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant, former CM Bhupesh Baghel, and ex-Deputy CM T.S. Singh Deo, will actively participate in the movement.
Congress claims that agencies like ED are being misused by the ruling central government to instill fear among opposition leaders. They allege that the liquor scam investigation is just a facade to weaken the Congress party and tarnish its image. The party maintains that Chaitanya Baghel has been falsely implicated in a political conspiracy.
In Raipur, Congress workers have already been staging daily protests near the ED office, and Monday’s blockade is expected to intensify the agitation.
This marks a significant escalation in the political tussle between Congress and the BJP-led central government in Chhattisgarh.
