The Congress party will run its ‘Save Vote, Save Country’ campaign in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh from November 11 to 25. During this period, party leaders and workers will conduct public outreach from villages to polling booths. Under the campaign, people will be made aware of issues related to the voter list, the right to vote and the election process.

According to the programme issued by the Congress organisation, responsibilities will be assigned to workers in villages and at booths to take the campaign to the grassroots level. Party office-bearers will meet local people and gather information on the status of names in the voter list. In cases where voters complain that their names have been deleted from the list, efforts will be made to bring such cases forward and help get the names added as per rules.

Public meetings and booth-level dialogue in villages

During the campaign, public meetings and dialogue programmes will be organised in rural areas. Congress workers will go door to door and speak with people. Checking the voter list at booth level and discussing local issues will also be part of the programme. The party’s aim is to connect with as many people as possible through the campaign.

Programme is part of national campaign

‘Save Vote, Save Country’ is part of the Congress’s nationwide campaign. Through this campaign, the party has raised concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the deletion of names from voter lists. Congress alleges that irregularities in voter lists may affect the rights of eligible voters. The Election Commission, however, conducts the electoral process and revision of voter lists under prescribed legal procedures.

Through the programme to be held in Sukma from November 11 to 25, the Congress organisation is preparing to expand its reach in villages and at polling booths.
