CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: Congress will end if it keeps following Rahul: Nitin Naveen
New Delhi. During a Bharatiya Janata Party foot march in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, party president Nitin Naveen launched a sharp attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He said that if Congress leaders continue to follow Rahul Gandhi’s statements and leadership, the party will end one day. Naveen alleged that in the Congress, the wishes of one family are given more importance than national interests.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, state BJP president Harsh Malhotra and other party leaders also took part in the foot march, held with the slogan “Save democracy, remove anarchy.” The march started near the Jain Lal Mandir in Old Delhi and reached the Town Hall area of Chandni Chowk. During the event, BJP leaders presented their position on the central government’s leadership and democracy.
Nitin Naveen also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s statements related to the Constitution. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi carries a copy of the Constitution, but has no real concern for it. Expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP president said democracy is strong in the country and the people’s trust is with the Prime Minister.
Naveen also targeted the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. He said it is necessary to correct voter lists so that the names of eligible citizens remain included and ineligible entries can be removed. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is opposing this process, while the BJP describes it as a step linked to the accuracy of the voter list.
The BJP’s foot march took place at a time when the Congress has announced a rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. Through this programme, the Congress wants to register its protest against alleged irregularities in the voter list and against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The BJP, meanwhile, has questioned the Congress campaign and Rahul Gandhi’s allegations.
This political confrontation between the two parties has now reached the streets. While the BJP is challenging the Congress leadership and its allegations, the Congress is demanding transparency and accountability in the voter list process.
