CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Constitution Day was celebrated with grandeur and colorful events at Bhabha University, Bhopal.
The event was organized by the Department of Law, which not only facilitated a detailed discussion on the Indian Constitution but also familiarized department heads, students, and the audience with its intricacies.
The Chief Guest, retired Principal District Judge M.P. Tiwari, addressed a packed seminar hall, shedding light on the true values of the Constitution, its current relevance, and the importance of constitutional principles in the nation’s evolving context. He emphasized the judiciary’s role in interpreting laws and discussed the division of powers among the three pillars of democracy—Judiciary, Executive, and Legislature—along with citizens’ rights, duties, and the Directive Principles of State Policy. Judge Tiwari urged people to balance their constitutional rights with responsibilities to build a robust and civilized society.
Advocate Vasu Vasvani, former Secretary of the Bhopal District Bar Association, provided insights into the current legal system and the process of rights delegation. Sister Roseline, Joint Director of the Uday Social Development Society, highlighted the challenges and solutions in protecting the rights of marginalized communities, especially women and children.
University Vice-Chancellor Dilip De elaborated on the significance of the Preamble, the essence of the Indian Constitution, and explained the differences between written and unwritten constitutions. Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. N.K. Agarwal spoke on constitutional violations in the current social context and emphasized the importance of adherence to the rule of law. Group Director Manoj Shukla focused on citizens’ rights enshrined in the Constitution and the need for reforms in the judiciary.
The Chief Guest, M.P. Tiwari, administered the oath of the Preamble to all attendees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dean of the Law Department, Shailendra Modi, who emphasized preserving constitutional values in today’s changing social environment.
The students added a creative touch to the event with a vibrant cultural program and a compelling street play, making the program both engaging and informative. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
