CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A new scientific study challenges the widely circulated claim that COVID-19 originated from a Chinese laboratory, a theory strongly supported by former U.S. President Donald Trump during his tenure. The study, published by an international team of virologists and epidemiologists, asserts that there is no credible evidence supporting the lab-leak theory. Instead, the findings indicate a more natural origin of the virus, possibly linked to wildlife trade and zoonotic transmission in Wuhan’s Huanan seafood market.
Researchers analyzed genetic sequencing, epidemiological data, and early transmission patterns, concluding that the virus likely jumped from animals to humans, as seen in previous outbreaks like SARS and MERS. The study stresses the importance of scientific consensus and cautions against politicizing global health issues, which can derail cooperation and misinformation efforts.
This research contradicts Trump’s narrative, which blamed China for the outbreak and led to strained international relations. With misinformation still circulating, the study seeks to clarify the origins of the virus and guide future pandemic response strategies through transparent scientific investigation.
The findings may not change hardened political beliefs, but they reinforce the call for science-based dialogue in understanding and managing global health threats.
