CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has clarified its position on discussions surrounding Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s stake in the franchise. Recent reports had claimed that Dhoni wanted to buy an additional stake in CSK. However, a senior franchise official rejected the claims, saying Dhoni has held no talks about seeking a stake in the team.
According to the report, Dhoni already holds shares linked to CSK and is among the franchise’s important shareholders. In this context, CSK has clearly denied speculation that he is looking to buy a new stake.
Meanwhile, Dhoni’s role has also become important in relation to CSK’s new head coach. After Stephen Fleming, who served as the team’s head coach for a long time, parted ways, the search for a new coach is underway. The CSK management has given Dhoni the responsibility of finding the new head coach.
Former India batter Hemang Badani is among the leading contenders for the post, and Dhoni is said to be in favour of an Indian coaching set-up. However, the CSK management is also considering overseas options. The final decision will be taken by the franchise owners.
