CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi, October 10. Changes continue at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. The eight-year coaching tenure of the team’s experienced batting coach and former Australian great Mike Hussey has come to an end. According to media reports, the franchise has decided to part ways with Hussey as part of a wider overhaul of its support staff before the upcoming season.

Mike Hussey had been handling the responsibility for eight years. He became Chennai Super Kings’ batting coach in 2018. Before that, he had also been part of the team as a player. His long association with CSK has been part of the team’s successful phase. His role in providing technical guidance to batters and shaping the team’s batting strategy has been considered important.

Hussey’s exit is the latest step in the changes taking place in CSK’s coaching structure. Earlier, after parting ways with head coach Stephen Fleming, the team appointed former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan as the new head coach. Reports have also emerged that bowling coach Eric Simons will be replaced not by Mohammed Shami, but by former CSK player Mohit Sharma. The situation regarding the future of the team’s fielding coach James Foster is also not clear.

Chennai Super Kings have won the IPL title five times, but the team has failed to make the playoffs in the last three seasons. In such a situation, the franchise is preparing for a better performance in the upcoming season through a new coaching combination and strategy. After Hussey’s departure, an official announcement is awaited on who will be given charge of the team’s batting department.
