CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has stated that courses focused on Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence should be introduced at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU), in line with current industry demands. He also emphasized that the university should establish itself as an advanced research institute in the media sector.

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for initiating activities related to the communication and effectiveness surveys of welfare schemes operated by the state government within the university.

CM Yadav gave these directives during the General Council meeting of the university held at Samatva Bhavan, Chief Minister’s Residence. The meeting was attended by Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani, Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Manish Rastogi, Secretary and Commissioner of Public Relations Dr. Sudam Khade, and other council members.

The Chief Minister directed the development of an action plan to run employment-oriented courses at MCU’s Rewa and Khandwa campuses. The council approved the introduction of one-year postgraduate programs under the National Education Policy. Following the approval, the university will offer one-year courses such as:

M.A. (Journalism and Creative Writing)

M.A. (Mass Communication)

M.A. (Advertising and Public Relations)

M.Sc. (Electronic Media)

M.C.A.

The council also approved updating the university’s Ph.D. regulations in accordance with UGC’s Ph.D. Regulations 2022, thereby allowing the commencement of a new admission process.

CM Yadav approved the proposal to name the auditorium at the Rewa campus after Lal Baldev Singh. The General Council also approved the implementation of the Fourth Pay Commission Higher Pay Scale as per the Finance Department’s order dated August 14, 2023.

Approval was also granted to mark attendance using face detection machines at the university. Additionally, a proposal was approved for establishing a Printing Press, Packaging Lab, and related facilities for vocational training in printing and packaging for students studying in the Department of New Media Technology.

The meeting also addressed various administrative and operational matters.
