CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. Delhi Police have uncovered a cyber fraud network that was being operated not from an office or a fixed location, but from inside a moving SUV. Police have arrested three accused in the case. The accused had turned the vehicle into a mobile call centre to evade police surveillance and kept changing their location continuously.

According to police, the case came to light after a complaint by Nilesh Vishwakarma, a resident of Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh. The complainant was assured that Rs 45 lakh invested in insurance policies would be returned to him. For this, Rs 65,000 was collected from him in the name of processing fees. On the basis of the complaint, an FIR was registered in east Delhi and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, transaction details in a suspicious bank account surfaced on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The account was linked to Himanshu Rathore. As police took the probe forward, the names of Lokesh Tomar and Tushar also emerged. According to police, all three accused are residents of Delhi.

It is alleged that Lokesh operated the network and arranged suspicious bank accounts. Tushar contacted people by posing as an officer or company representative and tried to obtain OTPs and confidential banking information from them. Himanshu is accused of providing bank accounts in return for commission and helping route the cheated money further.

Police stopped the SUV in the Old Kondli area of east Delhi and caught the accused. Seven mobile phones, 15 bank, debit and Metro cards, five PAN cards, four Aadhaar cards or their copies, six cheque books, three passbooks, nine pages of customer lists and other documents were recovered from the vehicle.

Police are now examining the bank accounts and digital transactions of the accused. They are also probing their possible links with cyber fraud cases reported in Mumbai and Telangana.
