CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Cyclone impact brings heavy rain warning in Bastar, schools closed

Weather conditions are likely to deteriorate in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh due to the impact of a cyclone. The weather department has issued a heavy rain warning for the region and forecast strong winds on October 28 and 29. During this period, wind speeds may reach up to 60 kilometres per hour.

In view of the possible bad weather, a decision has been taken to keep schools closed, keeping student safety in mind. Due to the change in weather, rainfall activity may increase in Bastar and nearby areas. Strong winds and heavy rain may affect normal life, while problems such as waterlogging in low-lying areas, falling trees and disruption of power supply may arise. Keeping this in mind, the administration needs to remain alert and make necessary safety arrangements.

In view of the possibility of bad weather, citizens have been advised to exercise caution. People have been asked to avoid stepping out of their homes unnecessarily and not to stand near trees, electric poles or weak buildings during strong winds. Farmers and people living in rural areas also need to pay special attention to weather-related warnings.

It will be important for the administration and the departments concerned to remain prepared to deal with any emergency. Citizens are advised to rely on official information from the district administration and the weather department for school holidays, local safety instructions and the latest weather updates.
