CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The second phase of the Dastak Campaign for child health and nutrition will begin on February 18. A review meeting was held at the District Panchayat Office to assess the campaign’s preparations, attended by officials and staff from the Health and Women & Child Development Departments. The meeting focused on strengthening regular reviews, reporting, and monitoring to reduce child mortality rates.

Key Highlights of the Second Phase (Feb 18 – March 18):

🔹 Anemia follow-up tests and Vitamin A supplementation will be conducted.

🔹 Children aged 9 months to 5 years will receive Vitamin A doses.

🔹 Children diagnosed with anemia in the first phase (6 months to 5 years) will undergo blood tests using a digital hemoglobinometer.

🔹 Therapeutic management will be provided based on anemia levels.

🔹 ANMs, ASHAs, and Anganwadi workers will conduct door-to-door visits.

During the meeting, Bhopal CMHO directed officials to prepare a line listing of children to ensure that all targeted beneficiaries receive necessary health services. He emphasized the need for collaboration with the Women & Child Development Department to create a detailed micro-plan and ensure that anemic children receive iron supplements with continuous follow-up.

A strategy was discussed to minimize child mortality based on causes identified through child death reviews. It was also mandated that every child death must be reported within 24 hours.

According to Bhopal Chief Medical & Health Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, providing health and nutrition services to children under 5 years can significantly reduce child mortality rates. Under the Dastak Campaign, children aged 9 months to 5 years will receive Vitamin A supplementation, and anemia levels will be monitored using digital hemoglobinometers. Anemic children will be provided iron supplementation as part of the campaign.
