CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: The Delhi government has approved a major increase in the fixed monthly incentive for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers, raising it from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000. The decision was approved by the Delhi Cabinet in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The decision will benefit all 6,725 ASHA workers currently working across the national capital. ASHA workers serve as an important link between communities and the primary healthcare system, helping families access vaccination, maternal and child healthcare and other health-related services.
The government said the increase recognises the contribution of ASHA workers and is intended to strengthen their financial security. These frontline health workers regularly interact with households and support public-health programmes at the community level.
The revised incentive represents a 100% increase over the earlier fixed monthly amount. The move is expected to provide additional financial support to ASHA workers while recognising their role in delivering healthcare services at the grassroots level.
The Cabinet decision comes as the Delhi government continues to announce measures related to healthcare and public welfare. The ASHA incentive hike specifically targets community-level health workers who play a role in connecting residents with government health services.
With the approved increase, Delhi’s ASHA workers will now receive a fixed monthly incentive of ₹6,000, subject to the applicable government rules and payment arrangements.
