Delhi gives 47.56 lakh voters another chance to add names
New Delhi: The Election Commission has given another opportunity to about 47.56 lakh people in Delhi who were left out of the draft electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Fresh enumeration forms will be prepared for these people, placed in the absent, shifted, dead and duplicate voters (ASDD) category, so that eligible voters can get their names included in the final list.
According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, voters whose enumeration forms were issued between June and 17 August, but whose names could not be included in the draft list because they were recorded under the ASDD category, will get a chance to apply under the new process. For this, they will have to contact the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) of the relevant Assembly constituency. A detailed schedule for submitting applications will be issued within a week.
Voters will be able to use their old voter ID number (EPIC) to download the regenerated enumeration form from the Election Commission website or the ECINET mobile app. Those whose address has not changed will have to state, under Annexure-B, the reason for not being able to submit the form earlier. Voters who have changed their address within Delhi will have to provide details and proof of the new address along with Annexure-C. In the case of homeless voters, the on-the-spot verification report of the booth-level officer may be accepted.
People who have already submitted Form 6 will not need to submit the enumeration form again. Their applications will be processed as per the instructions issued earlier. Booth-level officers will help contact voters by going door to door.
The draft list issued on 31 August included 97.53 lakh names, while 47.56 lakh names were left out. The Commission’s initiative is aimed at giving eligible voters an opportunity to be included in the final list.
