CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Delhi government has announced major precautionary measures amid the growing impact of the US-Iran conflict on global fuel supply chains and energy prices. As part of its response strategy, government offices in the national capital have been advised to implement work-from-home arrangements for two days a week wherever possible, while officials have also been directed to avoid non-essential foreign travel until further notice.
According to reports, the measures were introduced following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide appeal urging citizens and institutions to conserve fuel and reduce unnecessary expenditure amid the ongoing Middle East crisis. The Delhi government has additionally instructed departments to observe a weekly “No Car Day,” promote carpooling, encourage electric vehicle usage, and reduce fuel consumption in official activities.
The latest directives come as tensions in West Asia continue to disrupt oil markets and create concerns over supply routes through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy corridors. Officials fear prolonged instability could increase inflationary pressure and impact India’s fuel imports.
The order reportedly states that all pending proposals for foreign travel by Delhi government officials stand cancelled until further notice, including previously approved visits linked to official or personal purposes. Authorities said the steps are aimed at ensuring administrative preparedness, reducing fuel demand, and supporting national energy conservation efforts during the international crisis.
