CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Delhi High Court has granted permission to jailed MP Engineer Rashid to meet his ailing father in New Delhi until May 10, offering limited relief on humanitarian grounds. The court modified its earlier interim bail order, allowing Rashid to visit his father, who is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi.
According to the court’s directive, Rashid will be allowed to meet his father daily between 8 AM and 8 PM under strict supervision. He will remain in custody and return to jail after each visit, with two plainclothes police personnel accompanying him throughout.
The decision comes after Rashid sought modification of his bail conditions, as his father was shifted from Srinagar to Delhi for advanced medical treatment. Earlier, his interim bail restricted him to staying in Srinagar, preventing him from being with his father during critical moments.
Rashid, a Baramulla MP, has been in custody since 2019 in a terror funding case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The court’s latest order balances legal restrictions with humanitarian considerations, allowing him temporary access to family during a medical emergency.
