CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: Complete process for online alcohol booking, payment and pickup through the Delhi Liquor app
New Delhi. To provide relief from long queues at liquor shops in Delhi, the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has launched the ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ mobile app. Through it, customers can choose their preferred brand, bottle size and quantity, and make online bookings and payments. However, the facility does not include home delivery of alcohol. Customers will have to visit the selected shop and collect the order themselves.
Complete process to book alcohol through the app
To place an order through the Delhi Liquor Booking app, first install the ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ app on your mobile phone and confirm that the app name and developer are DSIIDC Ltd. After this, choose your preferred brand, bottle size and quantity from the brands available in the app. Then select the DSIIDC liquor shop from the available options from where you want to collect your order. After checking the order details and price, complete the online payment through the digital payment option available in the app. Once the payment is successful, a QR code related to the booking will be generated in the app, which must be shown at the time of pickup. Finally, reach the selected shop and show the QR code at the counter. After the code is scanned and the booking is confirmed, your order will be handed over to you. How long will the order have to be collected within? After booking and online payment, the customer will have to collect the alcohol from the concerned shop within 48 hours. If pickup is not made within the prescribed time, check the order status and cancellation-related conditions in the app.
Will there be home delivery? No. This app only provides the facility of online booking, payment and pickup from the shop. At present, this arrangement is available at 208 liquor shops operated by DSIIDC. This facility is not applicable at all government liquor shops in Delhi.
Age and purchase limits
The minimum age to use the Delhi Liquor Booking app has been fixed at 25 years. Under this, a limit of a maximum of 9 litres of whisky and a maximum of 18 litres of beer per person is applicable. Customers can cancel their booking before receiving the order from the shop, but there is no facility to return alcohol after the order has been received. All these limits are subject to the excise rules applicable in Delhi. The main objective of launching the app is to make the process of purchasing alcohol more convenient and organised, provide customers with online booking and digital payment facilities, and reduce crowding and waiting at shops.
According to DSIIDC, the purpose of this arrangement is to reduce crowds and long queues at liquor shops, ease pressure on payment counters and increase transparency in prices and billing. Customers can see available brands before going to the shop, which may save time.
Therefore, it is important to check the shop, brand, quantity and total price before booking. Also, keep the QR code received after payment safe and collect the order from the designated shop within the 48-hour time limit.
