CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: Delhi liquor booking app lets customers collect orders via QR code

New Delhi. An online booking facility has been launched in Delhi to make the process of buying liquor easier. Through the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ app, customers can view their preferred brand, get information on available stock and book an order by making an online payment. However, the facility does not offer the option of home delivery of liquor.

Under the new system, customers will be able to choose the available brand, bottle size and quantity on the app, select the relevant shop and make the payment. Once the booking is completed, a QR code will be issued. The customer will have to show this code at the selected shop, where the order will be handed over after verification. After booking and payment, it will be mandatory to collect the liquor from the shop within 48 hours.

At present, this facility is available at 208 liquor shops in Delhi operated by DSIIDC. Its objective is to reduce queues at shops, make the billing process more convenient and increase transparency in prices and payments.

To use this facility, the customer must be at least 25 years old. Under the applicable excise rules, the maximum limit for one person is nine litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer. Customers can cancel their booking before receiving the liquor, but there will be no return facility after the order has been collected.

This digital system allows customers to check the availability of their preferred brand before going to the shop. However, for now, even after online booking, it remains necessary to personally visit the relevant shop to collect the liquor.
