New Delhi. India’s real estate market is seeing a pickup in investment and business activity during 2026. Between January and September 2026, private equity investment in the country’s real estate sector reached $4.5 billion. This is 16 percent higher than the same period last year. The investment is expected to strengthen the property market in Delhi-NCR and other major cities and boost demand in the coming period.
Demand for office space has also remained strong in the real estate market. During January to September 2026, office space leasing across six major cities in the country reached 60.7 million square feet, up 6 percent on an annual basis. Expansion plans of global capability centres (GCCs), technology companies and financial services firms are supporting this demand.
Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR remain key markets in terms of office demand. A better business environment, infrastructure development and employment opportunities in these cities are giving a push to real estate activity. Strong demand for commercial properties has also been recorded in Mumbai and Pune.
There are also expectations in the residential market. In the residential segment, demand for premium and luxury homes remains strong in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR. New project launches and attractive payment plans during the festive season are likely to provide additional support to home sales. However, construction costs and rising home prices remain a challenge for affordable housing.
According to experts, institutional investment, rising demand for offices and activity in the residential market could drive growth in the Indian real estate sector.
