CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Delhi-NCR weather changes, temperature drop brings cooler conditions

New Delhi. The weather pattern in Delhi-NCR has changed completely after continuous rain. With a fall in temperature, people have begun to feel cooler conditions. Rain and strong winds have also led to a notable decline in air pollution. On Saturday, October 31, the air quality index (AQI) in several areas of Delhi fell below 100, bringing relief from pollution.

Air quality remained satisfactory in several areas. According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the AQI on Saturday morning was recorded at 73 at IIT Delhi, 80 in Burari, 86 in Dwarka Sector-8 and 83 at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. It was 104 in Ashok Vihar, 113 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and 116 in Anand Vihar. Around Alipur and Delhi Technological University, the AQI was recorded at 135. In this way, air quality in many parts of the capital reached the satisfactory category.

Temperature drops, sky to remain cloudy. According to the India Meteorological Department, the sky over Delhi-NCR is expected to remain partly cloudy on Saturday. Delhi’s maximum temperature may remain between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may be between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius. Due to continuous rain on Friday, the maximum temperature at the Safdarjung weather station had dropped to 20.7 degrees Celsius, described as the lowest maximum temperature in October since 1951.

Weather likely to clear at the start of November. According to the weather department’s forecast, the sky may remain partly cloudy on Sunday as well. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 28 to 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. From November 1, the weather is expected to improve and the sky is likely to clear. However, how long the relief from pollution after the rain will last will depend on wind speed and weather conditions.

Rain forecast for other parts of the country. The weather department has also indicated the possibility of rain in eastern and southern parts of the country. Between October 31 and November 5, rain may occur in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha. Heavy rain is likely at some places in coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 2 and 3. Light rain is also forecast at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand until November 2.
